Alan Crompton was the chairman of Cricket Australia from 1992 to 1995, and he was also known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) during that time. He had risen to the position following a long career in Sydney grade cricket, which was followed by decades in cricket administration, and he had previously served as the chairman of Cricket New South Wales and as the director of Cricket Australia. He also served as team manager for Australia Test teams on three abroad tours while on the board, and was granted the Order of Australia medal for his contributions to cricket, as well as life membership in Cricket NSW and Sydney University cricket club.
