The tragic death of Ali Asghar, who is known as Roshgale taxi driver is a great shock to many, he recently gets justice as his killers get sentenced to life.
Ali Asghar was known to be Pakistani immigrant who was working as a taxi driver. Connor McPartland and Martin Treacy killed him. Judge Alan Conrad QC on Monday sentenced them for the murder charges in October 2021.
Ali Asghar is a man from Rochdale, who was a taxi driver and was murdered in 2021.
Two men booked a taxi on Uber to go from Oldham town center to Rochdale on 30 October. One of the passengers began to eat his takeaway inside the vehicle and cursed the driver when asked to stop.
Ali was made to pull over at a petrol station in Queensway. However, the two set up a savage and sustained attack outside the cab, leaving the victim with catastrophic head injuries.
Onlookers called the police, and the defendants got detained later with the help of another taxi driver who had witnessed the event. After the incident, he, with an unrecognizable face, got hospitalized but died two weeks later.
Ali’s brother had given a short description of him in court. The 39-year-old had left his native country Pakistan for the United Kingdom in 2009.
An economics graduate, he first delivered leaflets, worked in a McDonald’s restaurant, and eventually became qualified for security jobs.
He then gained his taxi license and worked extreme hours to provide financial support for his family back home.

Ali Asghar was killed last year by two customers for denying them food inside the cab.
After a nine-day trial in May, the Manchester Crown Court found offenders Connor McPartland and Martin Treacy guilty.
And on Monday, 23 May 2022, judge Alan Conrad QC sentenced them to life imprisonment. The minimum term was 14.5 years for 20-year-old Connor and 13.5 years for 18-year-old Martin.
The judge commended the taxi driver who had attempted to save the victim’s life. GMPs Public Protection and Serious Crime Division’s Senior Investigating Officer Phil Reade also thanked him for his bravery.
Officer Phil also said how the senseless actions of Treacy and McPartland caused a family to lose a beloved son and brother.
