Best New Music: Rick Ross, Alicia Keys, Juice WRLD, Tory Lanez & More

All the best projects and songs released week ending (December 10).

On this week’s episode of new music Friday, Rick Ross elvates his status in his 11th studio album, and Alicia Keys drops off “one of the most exciting projects” she ever did. Elsewhere Tory Lanez takes us back in time with ‘Alone At The Prom’ while Juice WRLD goes to war with his demons.

We also get new music from the likes of Jim Jones, Migos and 2 Chainz. Because we can’t always get them all. These are (by our own definition) the best new music released on week ending Friday, December 10. All in one place for your listening pleasure. Some care.

Rick Ross “Richer Than I Ever Been”

Rick Ross brags about his lavish lifestyle on his latest album, “Richer Than I Ever Been.” Serving as the follow-up to 2019’s Port Of Miami 2, Ross’ new album includes features from Wale, 21 Savage, Benny The Butcher, Dreamdoll, Yungeen Ace and more.

Album: Alicia Keys “KEYS”

Alicia got the keys. The Grammy-Awards wining singer returns with a new double disc album titled “KEYS.” Loaded with 20-tracks, the follow up to 2020’s ALICIA is divided into two sides: Originals and Unlocked. The Originals consists of 14 “laidback piano vibes,” produced entirely by Alicia, and includes appearances from Pusha T and Brandi Carlile.

The Unlocked side features collaborations with Lil Wayne, Swae Lee and Khalid.

Album: Juice WRLD “Fighting Demons”

Juice WRLD continues his battles on his fourth album and second posthumous project, Fighting Demons. The late rapper laments on life’s struggles on “Already Dead” and clears conscious “Wandered In L.A.” featuring Justin Bieber.

Polo G and Trippie Redd both appear on “Feline” and Eminem makes a cameo on the aptly titled “Eminem Speaks”. Fighting Demons proceeds Juice WRLD’s previous posthumous album, “Legends Never Die” which was released last year.

Album: Tory Lanez “Alone On Prom”

Tory Lanez takes it back to the ’80s for his latest project, Alone On Prom. Inspired by the retro music from the ’80’s era, the Toronto rapper/singer introduces his alter-ego Ashton Rain on the heartbroken tunes “Lady Of Namek” and “’87 Stingray“. At 11 tracks with no features, other songs provided include “Enchanting Waterfall”, “The Color Violet”, “Ballad Of A Badman”, and more.

Album: Birdman x NBA YoungBoy “From The Bayou”

Birdman and YoungBoy Never Broke Again have teamed up for a new project called “From The Bayou.” The project comes with thirteen tracks including “100 Rounds,” “We Ride And “Black Ball.”

Album: Big Boi x Sleepy Brown “Big Sleepover”

Big Boi and Sleepy Brown finally release their long-awaited joint album, Big Sleepover. The 15-track effort includes guest appearances from Killer Mike, Cee-Lo Green, and Kay-I.

EP: A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie ‘B4 AVA’

In anticipation of his upcoming fourth studio album which is due sometime in the future. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie delivers the prelude ‘B4 AVA (B4 A Boogie Vs The Artist).’ The 7-track project features “Man In The Mirror”, “Girls Go Down”, “Be Free”, and more, before checking out with “24 Hours” featuring Lil Durk.

This marks A Boogie’s first body of work since last year’s Artist 2.0 (Deluxe).

RZA Feat. Flatbush Zombies “Plug Addicts”

Flatbush Zombies and the RZA connect for “Plug Addicts.” Anchored by The Abbott’s sinister production and his razor sharp rhymes, Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott bring their murderous flows for their adversaries.

Jim Jones x DJ Drama Feat. Migos “We Set The Trends”

Fresh off the release of his Fraud Department project with Harry Fraud, Jim Jones is teaming up with DJ Drama for a new Gangsta Grillz project titled “We Set The Trends” releasing on December 17. On the album’s first single and title track, Capo, Takeoff, Offset, and Quavo boast about their riches and heavy influence in the rap game.

DJ Premier Feat. 2 Chainz “Mortgage Free”

DJ Premier and 2 Chainz reunite on their new collaboration, “Mortgage Free”. Over Preemo’s signature boom bap, 2 Chainz details his rags to riches and living the American dream.
