Gregory “BoDee” Currie(born April 9, 1988 in Memphis, Tennessee ) is an American rapper, singer, and producer. So far he has released three mixtapes, Voice of a Legend (2009), 2010’s Thoughts of a Legend, and his most successful , No Privacy (2011). He is in the beginning stages of recording his indie label debut titled #1052, which is projected to be released March 2016. The six song Ep will give a refreshing take on real life situations from BoDee’s point of view in relation to the last one thousand fifty two days he was incarcerated. He is currently working with producer Erick Bardales (Boosie,Tpain, and Ambre’ Perkins).
BoDee has been writing songs since he was 8 years old. Since then he’s collaborated with Skewby, Tpain, and Roko Augustine and has accumulated a little over 2000 fans on social media. He has been reviewed on several hip hop blogs (Deranged Diaries, AlwayzTherro, and Eye 4 Musik), and has performed on the same stages as Plies, Wiz Khalifah, Big Sean, And Dorrough. In 2009, BoDee had launched his first mixtape. It provides insight into the mind of an aspiring Hip Hop Superstar who feels he has already made it. The project was more of a challenge to other rappers with it’s aggressive wordplay, comedic sarcasm, and above average realism– songs best understood by Competitors . In his words: “When I wrote Voice of a Legend, my mind at that time was like I had to get something off my chest and I felt that I was better than every other rapper that was out at the time. I believed I worked as hard as they did and I was all around better. I would say I mostly felt like Lebron James when he was a little kid watching Michael Jordan and we all know how that turned out, so Im like yeah, it’s my turn.”BoDee is now surprisingly pursuing his R&B abilities, penning lyrics reminiscent of Trey Songz, R. Kelly and The Dream. Much of his musical influence comes from his father, James Currie who pursued a music career as a Singer when he was in high school. BoDee received his first record deal with Slip n Slide Records in partnership with Atlantic in 2011, and was on his way before misfortune struck and sent him to prison for three years. Now back and better than ever, BoDee has acquired a new deal with manager/ business partner Darrin Jackson resulting in the launching of their indie-owned, Truphoria Music Group imprint.
