Thinking of those hurting for Buddy Popps today. In my senior year at Pennfield, we had an amazing boys’ basketball team that came up a little bit short in the district tournament attempting to avenge a 42-point loss to Harper Creek.
I might’ve been the only one to take them up on the offer, but Harper Creek students posted an open invite to any of us wishing to join them later that week. Buddy took them to the regional final that year, much further than any team had been in school history.
If you see the thin, red circle I made here, yours truly had basically a front row seat for a once-in-a-lifetime moment Buddy Popps helped make possible. I know he will be missed. – Robert Young Jr.
This breaks my heart to post. As many have come to find out, we unexpectedly lost my father this afternoon. When I got home after hearing the news, the first person I wanted to call was him. He was loved by many and will forever be remembered as “the great Buddy Popps”. Rest easy and go crack open a Bud Light with Papa. Love you always. – Kelsea Popps
Heavy and broken hearts everywhere tonight. Jeff and I loved Buddy Popps dearly as did so many others. He gave me many kind words and advice on divorce and love and heartache when I first met him working at Buzz’s, but even more laughs smiles and memories.. Love you Buddy! So glad we got one last hug last night.

My heart is broken. Such an amazing human. I can still hear you playing the guitar and singing at MSU. Heaven you gained a magical man 🙏🏼. Way too early my friend to go home. God must have needed your humor, positivity, light and music in heaven. Praying for your family.

Buddy Popps impacted a lot of lives everywhere he ever went. I was fortunate to coach with him in our program for several years. This is a brutal day for all those that were impacted by Buddy. He was very loved by all those that came in contact with him. I know there are lots of people hurting right now, we are all hurting for Buddy’s Family and Friends.
