Cardi B is helping cover the funeral and burial costs for the people killed in a recent building fire in her native New York City.
According to TMZ, the ‘UP’ rapper has partnered with the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, a not-for-profit organization – to make sure all of the families’ needs are met.
“I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal,” she said. “I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.”
The January 9 fire, reportedly caused by a broken space heater claimed the lives of 17 people including eight children. Several others were left injured and are receiving treatment.
New York City mayor Eric Adams, per TMZ says “We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims. The city will be forever thankful to her and also to the grassroots donors and corporate partners who have been able to offer immediate support for our neighbors in need, to reestablish themselves during this difficult time.”
The “WAP” hitmaker is working on her sophomore album, the follow-up to her history making debut album, Invasion Of Privacy.
