South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has revealed the secret behind his overwhelming financial success.
During his appearance on the season finale of The Banques And Venom Show, Don Billiato detailed how social media hate has helped him make bank.
“People will always use my name to get clout and then I bait them,” he explained. “I just give out bait, They talke the bait and start talking about me. I trend the whole year.”
He continued “Music no music, shoe no shoe … I trend the whole year. And what they don’t understand is when brands look for people to collaborate with they have these systems they just go and say ‘who’s the most spoken about brand’ and the data just says ‘Cassper Nyovest.’ It doesn’t tell whether people like me or not.
“This guy his name was said a hundred thousand times in a day through out this month. And that’s why I keep people talking about me whether they hate me or not. As long as you’re talking about me. I’m making bank” he added.
Since beefing with AKA back in 2015 Cass has bagged himself several high profile endorsement deals with his latest being a multi-million Rand deal with Drip Footwear.
Cassper teamed up with the local footwear company in July to launch his first signature sneaker The Root Of Fame 990. You can read more about the deal here.
“Today is big!!! First time inviting my accountant to a deal signing,” he tweeted. “I had to celebrate this one with all the important people in the business. Monumental.”
In 2015 the Tito Mboweni” rapper whose real name is Refiloe Maele Phoolo signed a six-figure deal with telecommunications giant MTN.
The partnership with MTN is a natural progression in my career. I’ve always sought to associate myself and the Cassper Nyovest brand with organisations and initiatives that unashamedly champion the development of music. I have found a home at MTN and I wish to make this partnership worthwhile for MTN customers,” Nyovest said in a statement.
He also released his ampiano inspired album Sweet And Short 2.0 last month. Spearheaded by the number one single “Siyathandana” Featuring Abidoza and Boohle, the album also featured DJ Sumbody, LuuDadeejay, Kammu Dee, Lady Du and Samthing Soweto.
