The tragic death of David Milgaard is still a great shock for his loved ones, as he is survived by two children and a lovely wife named Cristina Milgaard.
David Milgaard was known to be a Canadian citizen who spent 23 years in prison after getting wrongfully convicted of rape and murder.
David Milgaard was the main suspect in the murder of Gail Miller, a nursing student, and was eventually found guilty. The Canadian man was arrested in 1969 and eventually got released on April 16, 1992.
Miilgaard was awarded a package of $10 million as compensation for his wrongful conviction. David’s name was cleared after Larry Fisher was identified as the killer of Gail Miller.
David passed away at the age of 69 on May 15, 2022. The official cause of death is announced to be complications from pneumonia.

David Milgaard left his two children behind, whom he had from his long-term marriage.
His son Robert is currently 16; whereas, his daughter Julia is 14 years old. Milgaard was the same age as his son when he was wrongfully arrested for murder in 1969.

The couple has been together for nearly two decades during which Cristina has supported her husband through thick and thin.
Cristina already remained by her husband’s side when he was accused of domestic violence in 2011. As per CTV News, Milgaard was prohibited from contacting his family after he was accused of domestic violence against his wife. However, the no-contact order was eventually dismissed after Cristina herself requested a judge to cancel it.
David’s mother Joyce Milgaard passed away at the age of 89 in May 2020. She was battling an illness for a long time before finally giving up. However, the actual disease she suffered from has not been revealed for now.
Joyce had died in a care home located in Winnipeg, where she had lived for the last few years.
David has always credited his mother for the freedom he received after 23 years of imprisonment. Joyce always believed her son to be innocent and fought a legal battle for years to secure her son’s release.
