The multi-vehicle crash on the Mid-Hudson Bridge was as a result of a State Police pursuit in the Highland area soon after 7 a.m. this morning.
The one-lane highway has reopened, reducing traffic congestion on the Ulster County side and causing delays on the Poughkeepsie side.
The investigation is being handled by the State Police.

The Town of Lloyd Police Department stated that, The Mid Hudson Bridge is reportedly blocked, owing to an accident on the Dutchess County side of the bridge.
The Town of Lloyd Police Department posted on Facebook shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, “Mid-Hudson Bridge CLOSED until further notice due to a vehicle accident on the Dutchess side of the bridge.”
Expect delays and seek alternate routes, the New York State Bridge Authority stated around 8:45 a.m.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the Mid-Hudson Bridge and seek alternate routes, according to the New York State Bridge Authority. There is no way to move westbound or eastward. As soon as traffic resumes, we will notify you “Around 8:45 a.m., the New York State Bridge Authority wrote.
The closure is anticipated to linger “a bit longer,” according to traffic reporter Nancy Remy, who added that it is now “an accident inquiry.” She also stated that, while not confirmed at this time, the accident appeared to have occurred during a police chase.

The bridge was reopened shortly before 10:30 a.m., according to officials.
