A shooting happened on May 15, 2022, at the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, California. Dr. John Cheng was one of the victims of the shooting. Officials reported the next day, on May 16, 2022, that Dr. John Cheng was shot while attempting to stop an armed man. Officials hailed him as a hero who saved many lives while losing his own.
At a press conference on May 16, 2022, Don Barnes, an official with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, remarked, “I want to pause and notify you that Dr. John Cheng is a hero in this scenario.” Because to Cheng’s bold acts, people were able to intervene and handcuff the gunman, he continued. Without Dr. John Cheng’s work, people would be unable to function. Six people were hurt in the shooting, however only one person, Dr. John Cheng, died.
Dr. John Cheng was a devoted spouse and a loving father to his two children. Dr. John Cheng was a well-known figure in sports medicine and a valued member of his community. The suspect, however, was handed up to the police after churchgoers hogtied the gunman before handing it over to the cops. In the jail, the suspect is now relishing the brutal treatment of police officers.
