The almost eternal wait for some new Kendrick Lamar might finally be coming to an end according to Ebro Darden.
A few weeks ago, it was rumored that the TDE rapper would be releasing a new single on either February 4 or February 11. While February 4 didn’t present us with new Kendrick Lamar music, we now have what appears to be confirmation of a new single dropping this Friday.
According to a blog post spotted at HipHopnMore, on-air personality Ebro Darden revealed on his Rap Life show on Apple Music, Wednesday (February 9) that Kendrick Lamar is dropping some new music ahead of his Super Bowl appearance this Sunday.
“What I’m reading here provided by our producer Sasha… the way this reads, it sounds like it’s confirmed that we will get a single from Kendrick Lamar before his performance,” Ebro said. He continued reading verbatim what was on the note, quoting “with the release of his single to be debuted ahead of the performance…”
The note also reiterated Kendrick’s last year’s statement that his upcoming album would be his last on TDE.
Kendrick Lamar hasn’t released an album since 2017’s DAMN, but last year British singer, Adele confirmed she had heard his new music.
The Compton born rapper is set to take the stage this Sunday alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige for what is guaranteed to be epic Super Bowl LVI performance.
We’ve had a lot of false promises in the past, but how do you feel about this one? Let us know in the comments.
