Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch is a Sokovian immigrant who, along with her twin brother Pietro, agrees to be subjected to Hydra’s experiments. Her natural telekinetic and energy manipulation talents, known as Chaos magic, are amplified by the Mind Stone.
The fact that Scarlet Witch is the film’s antagonist is one of the film’s biggest surprises. Her primary goal was to kidnap America Chavez and claim her multiversal travel power so she could be with her children in another universe.
While the teasers of “Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness” suggest that Dr.Strange and Wanda Maximoff will team up to combat a shared foe, Scarlet Witch is revealed as the adversary very early in the film. She supposedly died at the end of Multiverse of Madness.
Her purpose was to acquire America Chavez, a superpowered girl from another universe who has the ability to open portals between dimensions and universes.
Wanda essentially wants to drain America’s powers in order to gain the ability to travel between realities so that she can be with her children in another universe. The fact that Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, is the film’s antagonist is one of the film’s biggest surprises.
Scarlet Witch made her debut as a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, with her twin brother, Quicksilver in X-Men #4 (March 1964). They were portrayed as hesitant antagonists who were uninterested in Magneto’s ideas.
Wanda initially opposes the Avengers, but eventually joins them and rises to become one of its most powerful members. After Vision’s death and the Blip, Wanda becomes psychologically unbalanced and utilizes her skills to influence an entire community into a false reality.
This puts her at odds with S.W.O.R.D. and Agatha Harkness, prompting her to free the town and unleash her dormant powers by assuming the ancient title of the Scarlet Witch.
Scarlet Witch is said to have died at the end of Multiverse of Madness when she sacrificed herself to destroy the dark hold and all of its alternate realities. We can’t be sure she’s dead because her contract with Marvel has been renewed for another seven years, according to sources.
Scarlet utilized the dark holds power to track them down, seizing Wanda from another dimension and going on a murderous rampage. She eventually acquired America Chavez and sent both of them to a universe with a shattered Doctor Strange.
The movie finished with Wanda Maximoff seeing her own errors and witnessing for herself that she had transformed into a monster who didn’t care if she had to take a life to achieve her aim.
And while she was still inside, she had to encircle herself with the full dark hold to ensure that no one was ever seduced by its abilities again.
