Fetty Wap pretty much owend 2014 and 2015 when he released Trap Queen. The rest as they say is history. The record largely responsible for his fame is now the subject of a lawsuit.
According to TMZ, Fetty and the producer of “Trap Queen” are being sued for jacking off the beat without permission.
Danish songwriter, Lazar Lakic says he purchased exclusive rights to a beat called “Hello” back in 2014 from producer Tony Fadd (The guy who produced Trap Queen) so he was surprised to hear it sampled in “Trap Queen.”
Lakic says Fadd tried to buy back the rights to “Hello,” from him last year January but he declined. “Trap Queen” went on to be huge so now Lakic wants a taste of the royalties. He also wants to destroy all copies and stop all sales of the monster record.
Like its that easy to destroy copies of a 4x platinum selling single which was also No. 1 on the Billboard US Rap songs chart. Good luck though.
Fetty’s attorney, Navarro Gray says if Lakic wants damages, he should take it up with the song’s producer as Fetty legally bought the beat and he has the contract to prove it.
