Gucci Mane recruits Lil Pump for his new single, Kept Back. The Murda Beatz produced track serves as the second offering off his long-awaited “Evil Genius” album, which he says he has recorded a bunch of songs for.
“I really just been compiling a bunch of songs, listening to beats,” Gucci tells Zane Lowe. “I went in with Metro, I did a bunch of songs with Southside, C.N.O.T.E. [I] just really wanted to just have a chance to almost make a mixtape worth of songs with all the producers that I like. I picked maybe, like, 60 or 70 songs. I usually just take 20 songs and put them out, but this time I really recorded a bunch of songs and then picked through them.”
On Kept Back, Guwop once again works with Lil Pump, who he collaborated with on “Youngest Flexer,” off Pump’s self-titled mixtape. “I like Pump. I just feel like they got a lot of energy,” he explains. “I like the way they promote themselves. I’m a big fan of Pump, I think he be flowing. They make good music so I wanted to collab with them. They’re dope.”
“Kept Back” follows the Migos and Lil Yachty assisted Solitaire, also off Evil Genius. Other known contributors to the project includes Offset, Quavo, Kevin Gates, 21 Savage and Youngboy Never Broke Again.
