Fresh off scoring his sixth no. 1 album with The Off-Season, J. Cole keeps the momentum going with a new video for “Applying Pressure,” the fourth track off the new LP.
Directed by Scott Lazer, the video follows Cole through New York as he dances and navigates his way through the city in a subway and on a bike, before linking up with Dave East, who he shouts out on the song.
“My latest speeches sound like they was released by David East (What up, East?)/Verses hit hard, never pitched hard or played the streets,” he raps.
The track debuted at no. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, whilst The Off-Season debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200. Released via Roc Nation/Dreamville/Interscope the album sold 282,000 copies in its first week and is currently the highest selling rap album of 2021.
