Jay-Z joins Instagram few days after his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
The usually reclusive rapper quietly joined the gram on Tuesday (Nov. 2) and has already amassed over 1 million followers on the app, while following just his wife, Beyoncé’s account.
The 51-year old rapper’s first post is a promotional poster for Netflix’s new western-themed film The Harder They Fall, which he co-produced. The Hall of famer also used the Instagram Story feature to remind fans of when The Jeymes Samuel directed film will be available on Netflix using a countdown.
The film’s soundtrack, also curated by Jay-Z features musical contributions from Lauryn Hill, Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, Conway The Machine and more.
Jay-Z born (Shawn Corey Carter) has manged to stay away from social media and its controversies despite owning a Twitter account, which he uses quite sparingly. Hov opened his twitter account back in 2008 and has so far fired off just 269 tweets, with his last post coming a day after he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“In my excitement , I failed to prize, and acknowledge JAZ-O, he was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible . Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so . Thank you all again , incredibly humbled by your love,’ he tweeted.
The Harder They Fall, starring Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo and Jonathan Majors is available for streaming now on Netflix.
The Harder They Fall is Jay-Z’s first producing venture since Darkest Before Dawn, which he executive produced in 2015, and the Annie adaptation which he produced in 2015. The Hip-Hop billionaire will also produce the long-awaited biopic Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? though it’s not clear when production will start.
