“Hi, all. As many of you noticed, I’ve been off the air for awhile to spend my Dad’s final days with him and my family. On Friday, my father — John Rogers — passed away peacefully at home in Chambersburg surrounded by my mom, sisters and me.
For decades, he had an accomplished career as a PGA of America pro and spent 2 decades as the head pro at the former Majestic Ridge Golf Club in Chambersburg. He was a PGA national award winner for his professionalism in education. Teaching and mentoring was his passion. But his first and true love was his family and I’m so proud to be his son.
He had a wicked sense of humor even while he endured pain & health obstacles for years. No doubt: the strongest man I knew and my guardian angel and warrior.
Truly blessed to have an incredible support system — family and friends — who are lifting me up while I grieve and celebrate my Dad’s life and his next journey.
I can’t thank the WHSV team enough for being there for me, too. I’ll be taking some more time off but looking forward to getting back to the air. After all, my dad shaped and paved the way for me to pursue my dreams in broadcast journalism so when I’m back on the set, it’ll be my way of honoring him and hoping to continue making him proud. ❤️
