Virgil Abloh was laid to rest at a private funeral in his hometown of Chicago over the weekend. The send off held at the Museum Of Contemporary Art was attended by notable figures in the entertainment, music and fashion industry.
Some of the high profile guests at the gathering on Sunday (December 7) included Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Drake, A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, Tyler, the Creator, Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, Kendall Jenner, and more.
A very emotional Lauryn Hill took to the podium to perform her 1998 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Everything Is Everything,” while Tyler, The Creator struggled to keep his emotions in during his eulogy speech.
“All these different people, colors, ages, backgrounds, religions, all came for one man and that’s what he did, he brought like the illest people together,” said Tyler.
Virgil Abloh served as Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton‘s menswear beginning in 2018 and was the Chief Executive Officer of Off-White™, a fashion house he founded in 2013. He passed away on November 28 from a rare, aggressive form of cancer called cardiac angiosarcoma.
