The Johnny Depp trial is still on going, has the case keeps getting deeper and deeper. It is revealed that Amber Heard was accused of stealing Johnny Depp’s sexual abuse story.
Kate James, Heard’s former assistant, confirmed the actress ‘twisted’ her personal narrative for public approval.
When Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard noted British model Kate Moss in court, his lawyers were seen celebrating. Amber previously claimed that Johnny pushed Kate Moss down the stairs, and she repeated the claim in court on Monday.
Johnny’s legal team in his multimillion-dollar defamation trial appeared to be waiting for Amber to tell the story in court.
Kate James testified remotely from Los Angeles that she received a barrage of drunken, abusive, and incoherent text messages from Amber Heard between 2 and 4 a.m.
Johnny Depp is suing the Sun’s publisher, News Group Newspapers (NGN), and its executive publisher Dan Wootton for libel over an article that called Depp a “wife-beater” and referred to “overwhelming evidence” that he had attacked Heard.
Depp denies ever hitting Heard, who has detailed 14 incidents during their relationship in which she claims he assaulted her. The paper must demonstrate that the allegations are substantially true.
In her 2nd witness statement to the court, James stated that she was a victim of rape in her twenties in Brazil and that the experience had “haunted” her ever since.
She had been summoned to give evidence, Kate James explained to the court that she was doing so since she is “a sexual violence survivor, and it’s a very serious stance to take if you are not one.” Sasha Wass, QC, representing The Sun, then dropped her cross-examination of James.
In a witness statement, James said of Amber Heard’s drinking habits, “Amber would drink vast quantities of red wine each night.”
“I would receive a barrage of drunken text messages between 2 am and 4 am that was incoherent and abusive,” James said in court when questioned by Depp’s counsel David Sherborne.
In closing, James stated that Heard was “probably the least known person” she had worked for in Hollywood.
Depp’s former Butler told the court that Heard frequently drank a bottle or two of wine at night when she was with Depp, and that she was the “antagoniser” in the relationship.
The defamation trial against Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will be put on hold this week. Judge Penney Azcarate is attending a meeting and has informed both parties and the jury of the break in the trial.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million after she implied in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that he abused her. Despite the fact that she did not name him, he claims her allegations affected his ability to work.
Both sides issued statements of optimism about how the proceedings are progressing at the end of last week.
On May 16, Heard will continue to testify. The actress has already spoken extensively about her troubled relationship with Depp, including allegations of physical abuse. A harrowing account of an alleged assault on Heard during a brutal and bloody altercation in Australia in 2015 was heard in court.
She previously described an “unusual and remarkable” first meeting with Depp, as well as a blossoming relationship in which she fell “head over heels in love.” Her testimony, however, took a darker turn when she recalled the first time he allegedly strike her, his jealousy, and his alchol and drug use.
