The tragic death of Kayla Mueller is still a shock to many, as she was known to bean American human rights activist.
Kayla was abducted and later killed at an ISIS camp in Syria in 2015. The humanitarian was held captive for months before she was executed in uncertain circumstances.
El Shafee Elsheikh is the British ISIS officer, who has been found guilty of assisting the captivity of Kayla Mueller and three other Americans.
He was a member of the unit of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was the one who killed Mueller.
Kayla Mueller was held captive by ISIS for months until they killed her on February 6, 2015.
A Yazidi woman, Lia Mulla revealed what exactly happened to the humanitarian in the US Federal court. She told the court that the human rights activist was treated like a slave during her captivity.
Mulla reported that the ISIS leader raped Mueller and threatened to kill her if she tried to escape. She later died and ISIS claimed that a Jordanian airstrike killed her but the US government never accepted it.

As a result, the investigation continued and a British ISIS officer is now found guilty of assisting her arrest and abuse.
Mueller was 26-year-old at the time of captive, as she was held captive by the ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who reportedly killed her after allegedly raping her. He did mention that the human rights activist died due to a Jordanian air attack.
But the US government has listed the cause of her death as a blunt force trauma. Hence, her death was around a lot of controversies and many of them still continue to prevail.
Kayla Mueller and Syrian were in a relationship, he was contractor who was hired to install communications equipment at Doctors Without Borders hospital in Aleppo.
She traveled there with her boyfriend and was later abducted by ISIS officers.
A native of Arizona, Kayla was born to Carl and Marsha Mueller. She was based in Turkey in 2012 helping Syrian refugees. A year after, she traveled to Syria and the rest is history
