Khuli Chana makes official return after two years on the sidelines.
The Motswako rapper took a forced hiatus from rap after he was inadvertently shot and wounded in 2013 by police officers in South Africa, who incorrectly mistook him as a kidnapper.
“Everything after that SAPS saga everything took a left turn. But there were some blessings there as well,’ Khuli tells Cassper during their discussion on The Family Tree Podcast. “The Absolut [Vodka] journey was fucking amazing. I got to travel the continent, doing shows in Angola, Kenya and Ghana. I was rolling solo, just me and white people. It was like that for like a minute.”
Khuli Chana subsequently sued the SAPS for over R2 million, but later opted for an out-of-court settlement and an apology.
With the unfortunate ordeal now behind him, the South African is ready to dominate the SA hip hop scene once more. Khuli will be making his official return with his third studio album Planet Of The Have Nots due for release later this year. Before the LP arrives this September, Khuli teams up with fellow South African Cassper Nyovest for the project’s first single. Listen to Ichu below.
