Lauryn Hill’s debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has been certified diamond.
According to The Recording Industry Association Of America, who made the announcement on Tuesday (Feb. 16), the timeless album has sold over 10 million copies since its release some 20 years ago.

Lauryn Hill’s new status puts her in the exclusive diamond club that consists of artists that have earned certified-diamond records including Michael Jackson, Adele, Eminem, 2Pac and Britney Spears. She also becomes the first female rapper in history to achieve this milestone.
“The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill,” which is unanimously regarded as a classic by music lovers world wide was released on August 25, 1998 via Ruffhouse Records and Columbia Records. The album debuted at the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 422,624 copies in its first week, setting a new record for first-week sales by a female artist at the time. The album also earned her 10 nominations and five wins at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards.

Ms Hill hasn’t released an album ever since, although she released a compilation album titled An Invitation to the Best of Lauryn Hill in 2000 and a live album titled MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 in 2002.
