Marlon Brando Fillis Death – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlon Brando Fillis, who had passed away on 14 July 2022 following a short illness.
Marlon Brando Fillis was born on 15 May 1973 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. He joined the military in 1993 at 3 South African Infantry Battalion. In 1994 he was transferred to eJozini in KwaZulu-Natal and in 1998 he was transferred back to 3 SA Infantry Battalion where he worked till his passing.
General Officer Commanding South African Army Training Formation, Brigadier General D.M. Madie said in his speech “as it has alluded, Major Fillis was a great soldier, in a sense that his conduct sheet reflected nothing negative even though he had served in the South African National Defence Force for 29 years. He should serve as an example to those who are left behind and they too should make him proud by following in his footsteps”.
The funeral service was held at the All Saints Anglican Church in Homevale on 23 July 2022, with the religious leaders for the service being Father G. Van Staden of the All Saints Anglican Church and Chaplain T.I. Moncho, Chaplain of 3 South African Infantry Battalion.
The late Major Marlon Brando Fillis was laid to rest at the West End Cemetery in the Northern Cape and the service was concluded at the Homevale Primary School in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
