James McGee is known to be the former attorney who defended Charles Merritt in the ‘Two Shallow Graves’ murder case.

He and his legal team defended Charles “Chase” Merritt, who was named the prominent murderer of the McStay family.
His client was convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of the McStay family, Merritt’s business associate.
McGee had withdrawn from representing Merritt, one of his infamous clients in the case in 2019.
He claimed that a conflict of interest had arisen with Merritt that prevented him from continuing to represent him.
The details of the two’s conflict were filed in separate and sealed documents that were later submitted to San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Michael A. Smith.
The judge allowed McGee to withdraw his support while his co-defense counsel Rajan Maline continued to represent Merritt.
James McGee Murder Case Update
James McGee is not working on the case again, as he had left the “Two Shallow Graves” case prior to the sentencing of Merritt.
He bid his farewell from the case in November 2019, while Merritt’s sentencing was delayed till January 2020.
Merrit was convicted of first-degree murder charges for the death of three of the four victims in June 2019. He had decided to kill the family as he was embezzling millions from Joseph’s business.
