On the evening of May 28, 2022, numerous persons were shot near the Aquarium in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to preliminary accounts.
“HAPPENING NOW: There is an active gunshot investigation at the Walnut Street Bridge,” Bryanna Idzior, a journalist with News Channel 9, wrote on Facebook. So far, Chattanooga police have reported that a shooting occurred downtown, in which numerous persons were shot.” Multiple persons were shot downtown, according to the television station’s website, but no other details were provided.

Although the specifics have not been confirmed by authorities, social media has been flooded with comments from people who claim to have heard gunshots and saw the incident. According to unconfirmed accounts, up to eight persons were shot, however other reports put the number closer to three or five. Authorities have yet to share details on the number of victims, fatalities, suspects, or motive.
According to other social media posts, shooting erupted near a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. The Chattanooga Police Department has gone silent on social media.
