After serving us the boastful Chalala with Chris Crack and Philmore Green. Neak decides to use his voice to speak on some of the discomfort black people face in the hands of white media along with addressing the unfortunate self-inflicted situations people of color find themselves in.
“King / know the pedigree beloved / I wish we all knew it before that jail cell cometh,” he raps over looping soulful jazz sounds. “I wish we all knew it before we went raw / filled up a Queen stomach / with future generations who’ll plummett.”
Borrowing a page from Jay Z’s 4:44, Neak continues, “What we could be if we knew / the difference between wealth & riches / and how we cursing our daughters for calling queen bitches.”
“Black Male Plight,” according to the Chicago rapper is meant to highlight the racial divide in America. “I felt a need to discuss the racial tension and divisive rhetoric running wild in U.S. culture today, and speak candidly about the dysfunctional behavior regarding race relations,” Neak says via email.
“B.M.P.” will be available on major streaming platforms on November 1st. Listen to the record via soundcloud below.
