The tragic death of Prafulla Kar who was an historical musician has hit his world so hard
Prafulla Kar is an odia singer and music director legendary, who reported died on April 17, 2022 at the age of 83.
Before death, Prafulla first complained of cheat pain on Sunday night, after having his dinner and died soon after at his residence.
The legendary musician was famous for his numerous songs, including “Kamala Desha Rajakumara.”
Prafulla is also the recipient of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India. The musician was awarded the prestigious title in 2015 for his contribution to the field of arts.
Due to age-related ailments, the legendary musician Prafulla Kar died at his Satya Nagar house on April 17, 2022.
Kar was married to Manorama and had children together, which includes sons Mahadip and Mahaprasad, and daughter Sandhyadeepa. All his family members were present with him when he breathed his last.
As per the reports, his funeral is scheduled at Swarga Dwara crematorium in Puri on Monday with full state honors. Moreover, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that his last rites would be performed with full state honors.
On the singer’s death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor of Odisha Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and others conveyed their sincere condolences.
Chief Minister Naveen also asked Education Minister S R Dash and Law Minister Pratap Jena to attend the funeral of legendary musician Prafulla. Further, he announced that his last rites would be held with full state honors.
Numerous people worldwide made a beeline to pay their last respect to the legendary musician Prafulla.
Prafulla Kar is estimated to have a net worth of around $1 million – $5 million (approx). However, the musician never shared details of his actual net worth and career earnings on any media.
Prafulla is a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award and further was honored with the Jayadeva award in 2004. Prafulla also received the state film award eight times six times.
He was an eminent musician who recorded Odia Bhagbat and Odia Chhanda, a rare collection of traditional Odia songs. His devotional music album ‘Prabhukrupa’ recorded over 10 lakh cassettes sales.
Prafulla’s composition ‘Collection of Geet Govindam’ was also a big hit in the music industry. He has served as music director and singer in 70 Odia Filma (released and unreleased) and in 4 Bagla films.
Prafulla Kar was born on February 16, 1939, to his father Baidyanath Kar and mother Susila Kar. A musician family raised him in Puri, Bengal Presidency.
Further, Prafulla’s uncle, Khetra Mohan Kar, was a well-recognized Tabla Player. The legendary musician was raised and brought up by his grandparents, Bhagban Misra and Apanna Devi because he lost his father early.
