The sudden death of Patrick Lyoya was a great surprise, that has caused great grieve in his world.
He was 26 years old at the point of death, where he was encountered and shot to death on April 4 by a Grand Rapids Police Officer, where the two fought following a traffic stop.
The sudden death is dated back to April 4, 2022, where Patrick Lyoya was killed by Grand Rapids Police Officers after law enforcement in the United States which was for an alleged unregistered license plate.
After his death, it turns out that many others have lost there life the same, killed by non-military law enforcement officers, whether in the line of duty or not, regardless of the reason. Among them, Patrick Lyoya is one.
Patrick Lyoya was 26-year-old at the time of death, he was an immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was tragically shot on April 4 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Patrick Lyoya was shot by Grand Rapids Police Department(GRPD). According to the police report, Patrick Lyoya was pulled over by police near Griggs Street SE and Nelson Avenue at a traffic stop.
Being fatally shot for an alleged unregistered license plate in Grand Rapids was that Lyoya ran from officers after learning that he would be arrested.
Later, Patrick’s parents have instead reported that Patrick was experiencing issues with his vehicle and had already been parked on the side of the road.
It was his mistake that instead of accepting the fact, he tried to run from the police officer and made them attempt this decision of gunshot.
Following the shooting, the Michigan State Police (MSP) opened a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding Patric Lyoya’s death and criminal record as well.
Lyoya’s family and their interpreter Pastor Israel Siku were later shown in the incident footage at an MSP office and reported that Patrick was killed “execution-style.”
Patrick was on the floor, the cop as he lays on him, pulled up the gun, and shot him in the head and back up where Patrick did not move.
Furthermore, his family of Patrick demanded the immediate public release of footage related to the incident in an open autopsy.
As already mentioned, Patrick Lyoya was shot to death by a police officer for an alleged unregistered license plate in Grand Rapids. Lyoya ran from an officer during the time.
After the situation led to the worse phase when a police officer fatally shot him, according to GRPD Police Chief Eric Winstroom, “There was a lengthy struggle, I’m told it was over a minute and a half or two minutes of fighting.”
