PC George, a senior Kerala politician and former leader of the Kerala Congress (M), was briefly detained by police on suspicion of hate speech during the Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan on Sunday before being granted bail by the court. While George is known for his colorful language and the problems that come with it, he has recently used his talks to criticize Muslims.
This is a significant reversal for the 71-year-old, who formerly had Muslim backing in his pocket borough of Poonjar in the Kottayam district. Here you will find all of the information you require.
PC George: Who Is He? A Kerala politician has been arrested for making a hate speech. What did he said?
George suggested that eateries managed by Muslims should be avoided because they use impotence-inducing drops at the Sangh Parivar’s Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan on Friday. He also mentioned “love jihad” and a “agenda to construct a Muslim country” by “sterilizing men and women (of other faiths).” Several pro-BJP Hindu organizations, as well as the right-wing Christian Association and Alliance for Social Action, marched in Thiruvananthapuram to protest George’s arrest before he was given bail.
PC George Has Been Arrested For Making A Hateful Remark
As he walked out of the magistrate court in Thiruvananthapuram, where he was granted bail, George stated, “My arrest was (Chief Minister) Pinarayi Vijayan’s present to radicals.” I’m keeping to the Hindu Maha Sammelan’s remarks. My statements have proven hurtful to extremists. The CPM and Congress both want Islamists on their side.” A police complaint had been made against George, accusing him of encouraging religious hate and acting in a manner that harmed the peace. He was captured in his hometown of Poonjar.
George has won the seat of Poonjar six times, including in the 2016 Assembly elections as an Independent, when he defeated the UDF, LDF, and NDA. He’s renowned around town as a friendly next-door neighbor who is always willing to help his neighbors. George began his political career with the Kerala Congress (Mani), which is now a CPM partner, and later moved to the K C, a breakaway party (Joseph). In 2006, he left the KC(J) and created the Kerala Congress (Secular).
After a fast electoral victory in 2006, veteran V S Achuthanandan associated with the Left in an unofficial capacity during his stay in power. His friendship with Achuthanandan enraged his CPM opponents, particularly Pinarayi Vijayan. In addition, George’s remarks during the Friday meeting have been attacked by both the ruling CPM and the opposition Congress. In a statement, the CPM asked that George apologize and recant his statement.
