PC George, a senior Kerala politician and former leader of the Kerala Congress (M), was briefly detained by police on suspicion of hate speech during the Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan on Sunday before being granted bail by the court. After a fast electoral victory in 2006, veteran V S Achuthanandan associated with the Left in an unofficial capacity during his stay in power.
