Roy Keeling Death – We are extremely devastated to announce the death of Roy Keeling, popularly known as ‘Keelo’ who passed away peacefully today.
Roy Keeling had been associated with Old Hill CC for well over 60 years. From junior player to elder statesman, he had seen everything at the club, and when they were in their pomp as the best club side in the country it was Roy who was leading from the front.
Tomorrow afternoon they play Stourbridge CC at Haden Hill in a crunch top of the table match. This is exactly the sort of occasion Keelo would have relished as a player, but also as a spectator after retirement. His applause and approbation from The Bank – meted out to both teams according to merit – would very much be part of the occasion.
We will remember Keelo tomorrow, and know that Old Hill is poorer for his passing. But we will also remember his contribution to making us the club we are, and reflect on how he, his wit, and his wisdom have enriched us all.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife, Carol, daughters Joanne and Sallyann, his extended family – including Dylan and Sam who continue his legacy on the pitch – and all the many people who were privileged to call Keelo a friend.
