Sherri Papini name is circulating all round, for faking her own Kidnap, and afterwards, she received the funds from the California Victim’s compensation board.
This act was grievous, and she is said to go for imprisonment on July 11, 2022, after faking her kidnapping in 2016.
Sherri is the mother of two who married Keith Papini in 2009. Keith Papini found her wife disappeared while jogging a mile from her home in Redding, California, on November 2, 2016.
Sherri returned back home November 24, 2016, as it was after three weeks after her missing complaint. On the other hand, she made a story where she told that captors freed her on the side of County Road 17 near Interstate 5 in Yolo County.
After she went missing, Investigation were carried out and her abductions news came into the media’s spotlight at the national level, where law enforcement experts reported doubts about her story.
However, the FBI found that she had stayed with her ex-boyfriends for three weeks.
Sherri Papini’s fake kidnapping story is airing on the Dateline NBC on Friday at 9 pm. In particular, Papini has signed a plea deal, where she has admitted that she faked her kidnapping in 2016.
Further, she has to face around eight to fourteen months of imprisonment for the charges of mail fraud and lying to a federal officer. In addition, she had obtained more than $30,000 from the California Victim’s compensation board.
According to her recent plea deal, she has to pay around $300,000 in return to multiple government agencies’ compensation funds. However, she is not in jail as she was released from prison, on March 9, 2022, on a $120,000 bond.
Sherri Papini had lied to a federal agent and detective from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office in August 2020, where she had cheated the California Victim’s Compensation Board by receiving over $30,000.
However, The FBI arrested Sherri for lying to federal agents and misusing the California Victim’s Compensation Board on March 3, 2022. Further, the FBI matched the DNA found on her clothes during the alleged kidnapping in 2016 and got a match with her ex-boyfriend.
Papini presented herself at the virtual hearing and accepted a plea bargain on Monday, April 18, 2022. In particular, she will be sent to prison on July 11, 2022, for eight to fourteen months.
