I’m Leaving was the last real hip hop song Eldee dropped before packing his bangs for Yankee, just like the song says.
The Trybe Records general was fed up with rap music in Nigeria, despite his best efforts to put hip hop on a pedestal. He felt he wasn’t getting much appreciation and respect for all his hard work.
eLDee returned fully to Nigeria when the industry was getting profitable but we haven’t gotten songs like this from him ever since.
This week’s hip hop throwback is Eldee The Don’s I’m Leaving, off his 2006 sophomore album Return Of The King.
