I continue to surf the continent for some of the dopest hip hop throwbacks that went under the radar. South Africa is one of the few African countries that do real hip hop so you might be getting a lot of records from that region. I see you SA!!
This week we’re moving down to Soweto to meet up with Pro Kid. Pro is one of the most underrated rappers… Ever. Not just in South Africa but in Africa as a whole. His ability to keep you captivated with his amazing story telling is something few African rappers can boast of. Sadly he came up in an era where there wasn’t much money and media coverage. (Which the AKA’s and L-Tido’s seem to be benefiting from). Well somebody had to pave the way for the next generation, right?
This next throwback track is one of my favorites from his 2005 debut album Heads & Tales. In the track Ghetto Science, Pro raps about some of the wrong choices people in the ghetto make.
