After a shooting at Rob Elementary School in Uwald, Texas, at least 14 students and a teacher were killed. The suspect’s death was confirmed by authorities. Police Chief Pete Arredondo of the Uvald Integrated Independent School District described the shooting as a “mass casualty occurrence.”
Gov. Greg Abbott said a gunman shot and murdered at least 15 people at an elementary school in Uwald on Tuesday. Authorities also report that a suspect has died.
14 of the victims were students, and one was a teacher, according to Abbott. He said the 18-year-old gunman, who was from the town in southern Texas, entered the school and began fire with a pistol before being shot and killed by responding officers.
“He shot 14 students and killed a teacher in a horrific, incomprehensible way,” Abbott said Tuesday afternoon.
Photos from the scene showed police, emergency services and parents arriving at the scene.
