It’s no longer news that the late Tupac Shakur and Madonna “secretly” dated before the rapper’s untimely death. The two music icons were matched together by actress/”View” co-host, Rosie Perez during the 1993 Soul-Train awards.
Their relationship allegedly ended when Pac began serving a prison sentence after being convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, stemming from an incident in November of 1993.
While doing jail time, Pac penned a personal letter to the pop icon who he reportedly dated for 3 years, revealing that the real reasons he ended his relationship with her was because of the difference in their skin colors.
An excerpt from the letter reads, “For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting,” He confessed. “But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”
He later continues with hopes of rekindling the old flame, “As you can see I have grown both spiritually and mentally. It no longer matters how I’m perceived, please understand my previous position as that of a young man with limited experience with a extremely famous sex symbol.”
The entire note available at TMZ will be up for auction July 19-28, with a starting bid of a $100k. The site also reports that the last written letter by the late rap legend was sold for more than $170k
