Jeezy and Gucci Mane’s verzuz battle went down on Thursday at Atlanta’s Magic City and it wasn’t short of talking moments. There were too many highlights to name including Gucci opening with a Jeezy diss track.
Jeezy revisited some of the classics that made him a staple in hip hop, while Gucci played some of his newer records. Both rappers took fans down memory lane playing songs from their extensive catalogs. Gucci tried his best antics to get Big Sno riled up including talking about his jewelry and outfit. “I want y’all to praise my outfit,” he said. “It cost 10 bands.”
He also played his Jeezy diss track “Truth,” and mocked the rapper’s dead friend, but Jeezy managed to keep his emotions in check and reminded Gucci why they were doing Verzuz.
“When I said I wanted to do this shit for the culture, that’s what I wanted to do, nigga, I wanted to show you that the world care about what the fuck we got goin’ on because we are the culture. You feel me? Me and you?” He said. “Where we came from. What we been through, nigga. Us. Me and you. All these kids out here doing what the fuck they do because they saw what went on with us, dog. So this shit ain’t about me, this shit ain’t about you.”
The battle, which was viewed by 1.8 million people on IG live concluded with a legendary performance of their 2005 collaboration “So Icy” and the two seemingly made up afterwards. The general consensus was that Jeezy won but opinions will always be divided.
LEGENDARY MOMENT.
