Royce 5’9 and Lupe Fiasco kicked off round one of their friendly beef on Wednesday (July 21) and the social media verdicts are in.
Lupe won the coin toss and Royce went first releasing “Silence Of The Lambda.”
“Solidarity like that muscle we refuse to flex/That synergy that these niggas just refuse to tap into/In our disparity, match our hustle, we exude success/Attack us mentally, that’s that energy kings get trapped into/Therefore I’m done promoting the dumb shit/ I’ll put a hole in your son while he’s holding your Sun Chips/While you’re over there with a chip on your shoulder/Like you Hova or some shit,” he rhymes.
Shortly after Lupe fired back with Steve Jobs, a 6-minute track that dissects Royce’s authenticity.
“We both wear glasses/The difference is I was in school thinking it was cool, you were thinking of skipping classes,” Lupe spits.
Both tracks are lengthy and packed with enough lyrical verbosity that could take the average rap fan a week to decipher. Nevertheless some rap nerds already have it figured out.
