Holding it down for the West Coast for over three decades, few rappers can match the far-reaching success of E-40. Recruiting some fellow A-Listers to his oceanside abode, 40 shares “1 Question,” his flashy and romantic new music video.
Built on a lush sample of Keith Sweat’s classic “Make It Last Forever,” “1 Question” is a smooth devotional, describing all the ways the rapper likes to wine and dine: “We could hit the matinee then go to lunch at Nobu/But you on your vegetarian so I order tofu.” Produced by Hitmaka, the song features a silky hook from Jeremih and boasts verses from Rick Ross and Chris Brown, who each do what they do best.
In the video, 40, Ross, and Jeremih cruise along the California coast, romancing their number ones and retreating to a hillside mansion for some E.Cuarenta and Earl Stevens Wine. “1 Question” is a highlight from Practice Makes Paper, 40’s latest full-length.
