Bringing their brand of witty and luxurious Memphis rap to a national audience, few elevate the art of flexing like Young Dolph and Key Glock. Creating chaos in a subdued California suburb, the two Paper Route EMPIRE bosses (and cousins-by-marriage) share “Baby Joker,” premiered by Complex.
Named after a villain from Next Friday, the sequel to the 1995 Ice Cube-starring classic, “Baby Joker” finds the two emcees squaring off atop minimal production from Bandplay. In the video, injected with the humor fans have come to expect from PRE visuals, Dolph and Glock attempt to finesse their plug out of his cash and his sister, before putting aside their differences for a cul-de-sac jam.
“Baby Joker” arrives one week after Dolph and Glock connected on “CheezNDope,” a track by fellow Memphis icon Project Pat. As Dolph describes, “Dolph and Glock leave South Memphis and go to Rancho Cucamonga to smoke weed at Uncle Gat’s house and plot on Baby Joker’s sister.”
