The tragic accident claimed the life of three, while three workers were injured after a car crashed into construction equipment in Newport Beach early Thursday.
Among those that lost their lives were Wayne Walter Swanson Jr., Crystal McCallum, and Andrew James Chaves were recognized by the Orange County coroner’s office.
With minor injuries, three construction workers were sent to the hospital.

Wayne Walter Swanson Jr is known to be a Newport Beach resident who died in an automobile accident. A vehicle traveling east collided with construction equipment on the side of the road after hitting a curb.
It was also unclear what construction project they were engaged on when the accident occurred. For several hours, the PCH between Hoag Drive and Riverside Avenue was closed due to the incident.
The Newport Beach Police Department stated that, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the 3000 Block of Pacific Coast Highway.
Three construction workers on the scene were injured and sent to the hospital for treatment.

Wayne Walter Swanson Jr and two other was died when a car collided with construction equipment in Newport Beach.
The car was involved in an incident on the Pacific Coast Highway around 12:45 a.m. when it collided with a curb and then drove into roadwork equipment.
The Orange County Register stated that, the crash involved a Tesla Model S, which was equipped with a system that provides auditory and visual warnings as well as the ability to lower speed and apply the brakes if it detects a risk of a frontal collision.
Newport Beach police are still investigating the accident.
