Master P is ready to be acknowledged as a legally single man after years of separation from his estranged wife, Sonia Miller. Miller married No Limit Records’ founder and CEO in 1989, but the couple has been divorced since 2010. Miller, the mother of the couple’s seven children, filed for divorce in 2013, but the divorce has finally been finalized.
According to TMZ, Master P has reportedly filed court documents requesting for a divorce split, which allows him and Miller to be legally single. If the court awards single parent status, the parties can work out matters like child support, asset distribution, and custody arrangements later.
Miller’s alleged drug and alcohol usage has contributed to the couple’s deteriorating relationship, which has occasionally played out in public, putting their children in the crossfire. “I care profoundly for all of my children and all of their needs are properly satisfied,” Master P said in a public statement regarding their breakup in 2014. I grew up in the ghetto and have changed my life, but she refuses to stay with me because we grew up together.
That same year, the music business mogul lost custody of four of Miller’s children – Hersey, Macy, Titiana and Italy – after failing to appear at a custody hearing. He was also ordered to pay Miller $75,000 in legal fees. Hercy, 19, and Mercy, 16, are rising basketball stars who seem to have been mentored by their fathers in recent years. Miller’s statement in her divorce filing revealed she was seeking monetary damages for helping rapper “Make Em Say Ugh” amass a $200 million fortune through his record label. In the past, she has sued the rapper for 40 percent of physical “community assets” such as cars and homes.
The former couple’s eldest son, Romeo Miller, even found himself scorned by his mother. In 2015, she sued Romeo, accusing him of being a pawn in a scheme to hide his father’s assets. Romeo, then 28, shared on social media that he was served. “I haven’t spoken to my mum for months as she is taking advice from her lawyer,” he wrote.
