In March police were called to the scene of a stabbing in Hale Barns, a wealthy village in Greater Manchester. At the scene, police found Yousef Makki on the floor with a stab wound to the chest.
Joshua Molnar is friends with Adam Chowdhary from Hale Burns. The new documentary Killed By A Rich Kid tells the story of three young boys, Joshua Molnar, Adam, and the victim, Yousef Makki, who were all involved in a crime.
The video sheds light on the 2019 stabbing case, in which a young boy was murdered by his classmates. When the victim was attacked, Adam was one of the classmates present.
Makki would be pronounced dead in hospital and Molnar would go on to be tried for the killing.
The teenager, who earned a scholarship to attend the £13,380 per year Manchester Grammar School, suffered a 12-centimeter deep wound to the chest inflicted with a flick knife.
Molnar, then also 17, was cleared of murder and manslaughter based on self-defense but was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment for possession of a knife and perverting the course of justice by lying to police at the scene.
He was also sentenced for perverting the course of justice by lying to the police at the scene.
The case was revisited during the Channel 4 documentary last night, where Yousef’s family tearfully described their horror at seeing him in the mortuary.
While his sister Jade said she ‘collapsed’ upon seeing his body, his father Ghaleb Makki explained: ‘I felt, “Come on Yousef, please.” I didn’t want to believe, standing in front of my son, his dead body, no, no no no – this isn’t real.
Who was Yousef Makki?
Makki was a boy from a working-class single-parent family in Burnage, Manchester who gained a scholarship to Manchester Grammar School where fees are £13,380 per year.
Makki’s mother scrimped and saved to be able to afford his uniform which cost £1,000.
It was at the school that Makki met Adam Chowdhary, who was also present on the night he was stabbed by their mutual friend and public schoolboy, Joshua Molnar.
What happened on the night Yousef Makki was killed?
Makki, Molnar, and Chowdhary were together on the day that Makki was killed.
In court, it was revealed that the three had met at an underground supermarket car park where Chowdhary and Makki showed Molnar the knives they had bought during a school break.
The three boys then went to a country lane near Manchester airport where Chowdhary had organized a cannabis deal. At the deal, Molnar was beaten by two associates of the alleged dealer, and Molnar accused Chowdhary and Makki of doing nothing as he was attacked.
That evening the three met up again at around 6.30 pm, and according to Molnar, he and Makki had an argument Molnar said that Makki pulled out his knife, at which point Molnar took out his knife and stabbed his friend.
