UPDATED WITH TRACKLIST.
SZA has never hidden her grievances with Top Dawg Entertainment over the continuous delay of her album “CTRL.”
Back in October of last year the talented singer created quite the stir when she tweeted about quitting the label.
“I actually quit, @iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed.”
The tweet has since been deleted of course.
Speculations of her leaving the umbrella housing the likes of Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q & Jay Rock began to circulate but it turns out she tweeted out of frustration more than anything else. 8 months after threatening to quit, Top Dawg Entertainment is finally ready to give SZA’s fans her long overdue album.
The release date for the album was revealed via a gif-like video posted by TDE’s CEO Anthony Tiffith. In the clip SZA can be seen relaxed with a bunch of old computers while Wu-Tang Clan member RZA does the honors of narrating her greatness, as the release date of 6.9.17 appears on the screen.
SZA signed with Top Dawg Entertainment as the label’s first (and only) female singer back in 2013. Under the label she released the album “S” in 2013 and “Z” in 2014. “A” is still nowhere to be seen.
