On September 21, 2022 at approximately 10:33 am Elsa Police Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of E. 3rd Street in reference to a female screaming. Upon arrival officers located a 35-year-old female that had been stabbed several times in the face and neck area.
The victim identified 41-year-old Benito Gonzalez of Elsa as the actor. The victim was transported to DHR Hospital in Edinburg where she was treated and released later that evening.
A search of the area was conducted and Gonzalez was located on the roof of a residence in that area. Officers were able to talk Gonzalez off the roof and he was taken into custody without incident.
Benito Gonzalez was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Family Member, a 1st. degree felony. He was arraigned and remanded to the Hidalgo County Jail on a bond of $500,000.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
