The death of Logan Mwangi was a tragic one, and was considered as murder, as the doctor testified in a murder trial that a five-year-old kid discovered dead in a river would have been in “severe agony” before his death.
Mwangi die at age five, and according to the jury, Mwangi died after sustaining devastating injuries that resulted in a rip in his gut and liver.
After months of torture and captivity in the “dungeon” of his small, dark bedroom, a jury decided that a five-year-old kid was left to die by his mother, stepfather, and a 14-year-old teenager.
The injuries he sustained was so great that it was reported that, Logan Mwangi died of injuries similar to those sustained in a car accident or a fall from a great height.
After his death, Angharad Williamson, John Cole, and the juvenile boy attempted to flee justice by discarding the youngster’s body in a river and called authorities to allege he had been stolen.
According to the court, Logan steadily faded from the view of authorities in the months leading up to his death, with his family citing the Covid epidemic as a reason for locking him up.
After it was revealed that the authorities were aware of some of Logan’s ailments in the months leading up to his death, an investigation was initiated to see whether there were any prospects of saving him.
His body was discovered to be bruised, scraped, and scratched from head to toe, with more than 50 injury locations – and many more personal injuries – noted throughout the examination.
His brain, liver, and stomach had all been damaged. Rees predicted that his death would be protracted and agonizing.
It is sad, but the reason being the stepfather and the unnamed teen killing the five years old Logan happens to be racism. The investigation will also look at what was previously known about Cole’s background.
His violent past has been disclosed, including a previous attack on a youngster.
The court stated that, Cole despised Logan’s resemblance to his original father, who is of Kenyan descent, implying that racism may have played a role in his feelings toward Logan.
Another point of focus for the investigation will be why police did not act on alleged death threats made by Logan in the weeks leading up to the murder.
Dr. Stalker added that according to statistics, the average child Logan’s age has three injuries, compared to 16 for a non-abused youngster.
When asked what may have caused the injuries, Dr. Stalker suggested stomping, knuckle punches, kicks, a weapon or hard surface, and powerful grips as possible answers.
All three suspects are charged with perverting the course of justice, including transferring his body, removing his clothing, cleaning bloodstained bed linen, and filing a fraudulent missing person report with the police.
Williamson and the youngster pleaded not guilty to both counts, while Cole denied murder but admitted perverting the course of justice.
Williamson and Cole were also accused of causing or permitting a child’s death, which they both denied.
