YG Gives Away $20k Worth Of Sneakers To Ex-Inmates
YG blessed a group of ex-inmates with his $200 sneakers, same day he released his Kommunity Service LP with Mozzy.
TMZ reports The Bompton rapper stopped by Amity Foundation House in downtown Los Angeles on Friday to giveaway pairs of his Block Runner sneakers to former inmates who are looking to get back on their feet.
“Welcome home,” YG said to the group of men, who have just been released from prison after serving their sentences. “I pulled up to pass out some shoes. I’m from out here and I feel like I just wanna give back to the people.”
“I want to shine some light on the people. I have my own brand,” he added. “I’m doing my own shoes, so it’s only right I let the community get some. Show some love to the community and the people. Welcome home!”
YG’s flame sneakers sell for $200 a pair and he reportedly gave away hundreds of pairs worth over $20,000 in total. A fine gesture for a rapper, who is often misunderstood.
He previously gave away 50 pairs of the sneakers to homeless people living in Skid Row.
YG dropped “Kommunity Service” on Friday, his joint album with Mozzy, who also assisted him with the sneaker giveaway. The project featured collaborations with Young M.A., Ty Dolla $ign and G Herbo.
