DaBaby apologizes for homophobic comments.
Following several weeks of backlash DaBaby has finally succumbed to the pressure and has apologized for his anti-gay comments at Rolling Loud Miami 2021.
“Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes,” Baby wrote in a press statement shared on his Instagram page.
During his now controversial, and much talked about set – the “Kirk” rapper was accused of shaming gay men and spreading misinformation about HIV/AIDS.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” Baby said before later adding, “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
“I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ Community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” he continued. “I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important. Love to all. God bless.”
His apology comes after he has been canceled and dropped from several high profile festivals including Lollapalooza, Day N Vegas and Governors Ball.
Should he have apologized sooner, or is his career done for?
