Eminem’s 19-year old adopted daughter Whitney has come out as non binary and will now like to be identified as Stevie from now.
Stevie, who announced the transition on TikTok with photos of her journey said they’ll use the pronouns they/she/he from here on out.
“Watch me become more comfortable with myself,” she captioned the TikTok video. “Forever growing and changing.”
While Eminem hasn’t commented on the transition, Stevie’s half sister and Em’s biological daughter Hailie “Jade” Mathers showed her support by liking the video.
Stevie also explained in the comments how they came up with their name.
“I spent a long time trying to pick a name I felt uncomfortable with and the first name I felt comfortable with is Stevie!” they said before revealing they are also in the process of changing their name officially on their passport.
Stevie came out as bisexual in 2017 and requested at the time to go by the pronouns she/they.
“The teenager said in a now deleted post per the Daily mail ‘Happy national coming out day!’ I am bisexual???? I would like to say you’re perfect the way you are and that love is love!?????????? be yourself!’
The Detroit rapper adopted Stevie in 2005 after he reconciled with their mom Kim Scott. Stevie was born to Kim and her ex-boyfriend Eric Hartter, a tattoo artist who died of a suspected drug overdose in 2019 at age 40
Stevie’s mom was hospitalized last month after trying to kill herself but she’s now back home recovering.
