Kanye West and Drake have put their past differences behind them and are now seemingly back to being friends. Both rappers on Tuesday (Nov. 16) shared photos and videos on Instagram alluding to their reconciliation.
The artist now known as Ye – shared a photo of himself standing alongside Drake and Rap-A-Lot Records CEO J Prince, while Drake posted a video of him and Kanye West smiling backstage at a screening of Dave Chappelle’s Untitled documentary in Toronto.
The reconciliation comes just a week after Ye extended an olive branch to Drake calling for him to join him on stage at a benefit concert for former Gangster Disciples leader, Larry Hoover, who is currently incarcerated.
“I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between myself and Drake,” Ye said while reading off his phone. “Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest.”
“I’m asking Drake on Dec. 7 to join me on stage as a special guest to share the two biggest albums of the year live in Los Angeles with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover,” Ye added. “I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people – everywhere – how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together.”
It was unclear how Drake would respond to Ye’s request, but he looks to have taken it in good faith.
The two, who both released albums – Donda and Certified Lover Boy – this year, have been taken subliminal shots at eachother for years, but the feud simmered down a bit until early this year when Drake called Kanye West “burnt out” on a Trippie Redd song.
In response Ye shared a picture of a Google Maps screenshot that showed Drake’s home in Toronto, Canada. The pettiness continued for a while, but on request of Larry Hoover both rappers have now made peace.
