About five months after the release of his chart-topping album, Donda – Kanye West has started working on a sequel.
Steven Victor – the chief operating officer of G.O.O.D. Music and SVP of A&R at Universal Music Group revealed the news to Complex in an exclusive interview.
“Ye has started working on his new masterpiece, ‘Donda 2,’” Victor said.
Not much else was revealed about the project, but if completed, DONDA 2 will be Kanye West’s first ever sequel album of his career.
“Donda” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following its August 29, 2021 release with 309,000 total album-equivalent units.
In November, he released a deluxe version of the 27-track effort with five additional songs, including a collaboration with André 3000.
The LP is nominated in the Best Rap Album and Album of the Year categories at the 2022 Grammy Awards, which Billboard reports is likely to be postponed due to a rise in COVID-19 cases across the United States.
